چکیده
The standard anatomy textbooks of today agree that the brachial plexus in man is derived from the anterior rami of the fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth cervical and first thoracic nerves (Fig. 1). The anterior rami of the fifth and sixth cervical nerves are described as uniting at the outer border of the scalenus medius to form the cephalic trunk, the anterior rami of the eighth cervical and first thoracic nerves

A Rare Bilateral Variation in the Formation of Median Nerve
The median nerve is formed by fusion of lateral (C5-C7) and medial (C8, T1) cords from the brachial plexus. Bilateral variations in the formation of median nerve are very rare. One of such variations was observed during the dissection of the upper limb of approximately a 30-35-year-old man cadaver, according to Grant s method. The median nerve was formed by the union of three roots on both side...
متن کاملBrachial plexus injury as an unusual complication of coronary artery bypass graft surgery.
Brachial plexus injury is an unusual and under-recognised complication of coronary artery bypass grafting especially when internal mammary artery harvesting takes place. It is believed to be due to sternal retraction resulting in compression of the brachial plexus. Although the majority of cases are transient, there are cases where the injury is permanent and may have severe implications as ill...
متن کاملFive Roots Pattern of Median Nerve Formation.
An unusual combination of median nerve's variations has been encountered in a male cadaver during routine educational dissection. In particular, the median nerve was formed by five roots; three roots originated from the lateral cord of the brachial plexus joined individually the median nerve's medial root. The latter (fourth) root was united with the lateral (fifth) root of the median nerve for...
